A bit of a noisy evening last night at the quiz, but I had a great time and even with a bit of a sore throat this morning I have to shout out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who turned up and made it such a successful night.
Again, your generosity amazed me and last night you raised the most money we have seen at The Black Lantern for many quiz nights.
A WHOPPING €219 raised towards HELP for HEROES.

OUR GRAND TOTAL SINCE WE STARTED DOING THE QUIZZES IN OCTOBER 2012 STANDS AT
€9723
€9723
I am getting goosebumps seeing how much you have all raised for the charity in such a short space of time and when we finally break that €10,000 barrier...WOW.
NOw ON TO THE QUIZ NIGHT
More thank you's to everyone who donated raffle prizes last night; A fantastic bottle of wine from Yianni (Pnevmatikakis Winery), chocolates from Team Anonimouse, A Valentines Bear from The Four Seasons and a bottle of Ouzo from Sprung Chickens - Thank you guys, it really is very much appreciated and helps raise even more money for the charity.
We had a truly international evening last night, with Greeks, Germans, Swedish, Polish, Welsh, English and Scottish people all competing for the honour of winning The Black Lantern Quiz.
Honours and prizes went to 'Team Michalis' for a valiant attempt in trying to understand my dodgy accent as they completed their first quiz at The Black Lantern. They came in a very unfortunate last place and walked away with the Ltd. Edition HELP for HEROES Black Lantern Pirate...and a big smile.
With fourteen teams last night, far too many teams were going to walk away without prizes but we had a tie-break in 2nd place, that remained a tie after they both gave the same answer to the tie-break question...after the fighting had died down we decided to give both team a bottle of wine for coming so close to the winners podium, so congratulations to 'Sprung Chickens' and 'The Ian Yates Fan Club' for BOTH finishing in 2nd place on 67 points.
With a jaw dropping 75 points, no one could touch 'The Four Seasons' who blew everyone else out of the water with their score and gaining a crucial 10 points in the quiz league for coming first.
A quick reminder to get your fancy dress for the Cowboy and Indian themed last winter quiz on 25th April. The shops still have all the carnival costumes in, so get in there quick!
