Christmas came early at The Black Lantern quiz night on December 20th with gifts to every team from 'Santa' and a more raffle prizes than ever before. It was one of the rare tie breakers last night with the '4 Seasons' and 'Bonnie & Clyde' both on a high score of 71. It was 'Bonnie & Clyde' who came out on top after getting closer in the tie-break question and getting the top 10 points for the League and also 2 bottles of wine and a special prize!
The Wallabies, who keep changing their name to confuse me, came a close third just beating of the Darmar Devils by 1/2 point. 5th place went to Anonimouse who dropped from their first place win last quiz with Sprung Chickens 1 point behind them in 6th place.
The 3 Santas (Ian Yates Fan Club!) tried their best but only managed 7th place...I blame it on the beards and the full Santa outfits...and winning the Limited Edition Fine Porcelain Pirate was once again The Challengers who struggled a bit on the current events round.
THANK YOU everyone for making it a great night and I hope you all enjoyed your little gifts, and those who won a raffle prize...CONGRATULATIONS.
A big thank you goes out to Graham, the owner of The Black Lantern for bidding €35 on the fantastic rare bottle of Amstel donated by Jeff, and also for his ongoing support to the charity. Graham, you are are a star, a very personal thank you from myself and Alison for all that you do that often goes unnoticed.
Thank you's also go out to Alex for donating a beautiful boxed set of wine, Kathy for another of her amazing soft toys (a snowman this week), Angie and Stuart for their donation of a bottle of wine, Yianni for his bottle of Cretan traditional wine and finally to Maggie and John for donating a luxurious box of chocolates. All donations were very well received for the raffle and went to help raise €200 on the night.
In the league tables 'Norf and Souf' has merged with 'Bonnie & Clyde' to make a team of 4 people that looks hard to beat. Maybe there is a team out there that can give them a run for their money at the next quiz on 3rd January 2015.
Lastly, can I take this opportunity to thank you again for your support to the quiz nights, everything you give to myself and Alison goes to the HELP for HEROES charity and to date we are well on the way to raising €10,000 since we started doing the quizzes at The Black Lantern, by the end of this winter season.
Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year to you all...
Ian
